Matchman hooks into monster cat on the

southern match angler has literally hit the big time after
bagging one of the most amazing captures on the pole in recent
years - a 32lb catfish!
Jonny Watt hooked the big 'pussy' in an open match
at Faulkenvile Fisheries (Mushroom Farm) during
the second leg of the 100-peg Shimano Arun Summer League
teams-of-five event.
Fishing his Preston Innovations Invictus Power pole at 13
metres, he latched into the whiskered beast when fishing for
carp tight to the far bank using a prototype paste he has
created and is field testing for sponsor BCUK.
The BCUK Passies team captain was fishing in just four feet of
water using 0.21mm PowerLine straight through to a size 10
Drennan Carp feeder hook when he hooked the predator.
"I was fishing over to some snags on the far bank when it
happened," Jonny commented. "I had two cats over 16lb earlier
in the match, which had each taken 15 minutes to land on
Preston 17h hollow elastic through a new Pulla top kit. I took
the big lad not long afterwards.
"I hooked it with 15 minutes of the match remaining and landed
it 14 minutes after the whistle had blown, in front of a big
crowd who all wanted to see what I'd hooked."
Thanks to the big moggy Jonny now lies in second place in the
league, which attracts large numbers to the southern venues
used. If you're interested in emulating Jonny's success, give
